The She Project

The She Project bloomed from a conversation—friends, wine,
laughing—about women’s community, creative process, and party games.
It’s become a community-wide women’s project. On a designated date,
women will respond—with words, images, color, texture—to a “She
Phrase” that intrigues, provokes, and inspires us to explore, express, and
discover ourselves. All women are invited to play.

Why women? To celebrate the fact that when women gather, whether
by design or by accident, we have intimate conversations. We swap
recipes, share lipstick, talk about our underwear. We share our lives with
other women—friends, family, and strangers alike—in bathrooms and
hallways and waiting rooms everywhere.

The She Project celebrates the universal intimacies women share
and our infinite perspectives and responses, to ideas, challenges,
provocative phrases. “She” moves through phrases, leaves space to
respond, react, engage. Who is she? We watch her; we see her and
ourselves in her. We giggle with her in bathrooms. She is part of us—and
watching her, we know ourselves. When we become "she," life shifts.
She slips through the cracks and into endless space, and there’s room
enough for dreams and visions, room enough for songs and stories.
